Orca AI: Run Parallel Coding Agents with Git Worktrees
Note: several products use the name Orca. This post is about Orca from stablyai, the agent development environment at onorca.dev.
Running one coding agent is easy. Running several at once on the same project usually ends in agents editing the same files. Orca's answer is git worktrees.
What is Orca AI (the Orca IDE)?
Per its docs, Orca is a desktop IDE for running multiple AI coding agents side by side. Every task gets its own git worktree, its own agent terminal and its own browser tab. It works with agents such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and others, using your own subscription.
Why Orca uses git worktrees for parallel agents
A git worktree is a second working copy of the same repository, on its own branch. Because each agent has its own copy, they do not overwrite each other. Orca's docs say every worktree is a real git worktree, so you can use plain git inside it whenever you want.
You then review each result as a diff and merge what you like.
How to use Orca with multiple coding agents
1. Open a repo in Orca.
2. Create a worktree for each task: a bug fix, a test file, a docs update.
3. Start an agent in each and give it one clear instruction.
4. Read the diffs. Merge the ones that are right and discard the rest.
Orca also has a CLI for scripting worktrees and terminals, and a mobile companion.
Who Orca AI is for
The docs say it is meant for people who already write code and read diffs. It does not replace git or review. If you are not comfortable reviewing code changes, parallel agents will mostly give you more to check.
Orca limits to keep in mind
For non-code automation like scheduled reports and chat assistants, look at Hermes Agent instead.
